Virginia "Ginny" Gougeon

Tamarack City: Virginia Ann “Ginny” Gougeon, age 72, of Calumet, formerly of Tamarack City, passed away at Garden View on February 21, 2016.
She was born on June 20, 1943 in Hancock, a daughter of Joseph and Dorothy Gougeon. She graduated in 1961 from Dollar Bay High School as class Salutatorian. She began her career at Michigan Tech University as a typist and clerk. Her career in the Office of Student Records and Registration spanned four different University Presidents. She received the 1999 MTU Employee Excellence Award. She was widely admired and appreciated as the "institutional memory" when it came to university student policies and courses. She retired in 2001 as the Assistant Registrar after 40 years of dedicated service.
She was a member of the Huskies Club. She had been a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hubbell and was now a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden. She had served on the church finance council and various other committees. She also volunteered for Little Brothers.
She was preceded in death by: her parents-Joseph and Dorothy, and her brother-Raymond.
She is survived by: sister-in-law-JoAnn Gougeon and nieces-Nicole (Sean) Hildebrandt and Kimberly (Matt) Tremain and their children-Ben, Owen, Raina, Ava, and Alex.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Father Francis Dobrzenski to officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday morning, from 11:00 until noon at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden. Burial will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made in her name to Saint Joseph Catholic Church or Michigan Tech University.
