Lake Linden: Shirley MacIntosh, of Lake Linden, passed away after a lengthy illness at Our Lady of Mercy in Hubbell on July 7, 2016.
She was born on June 1, 1937 in Lake Linden, daughter of Milton and Cecelia Warner.
She graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School in the class of 1955 and Suomi College in a 1-year Secretarial Course.
After her marriage to Donald MacIntosh in October of 1956, they lived in Boston, Mass for one year, where she worked at the New England Trust as a secretary.
She returned to Lake Linden to raise her children. She worked at the Lake Linden-Hubbell School system for over 20 years as a teacher’s aide-first, then in the superintendent’s office.
She was a member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Hubbell where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Ladies Aid, choir member, and secretary of the Church Council for 25 years.
She enjoyed knitting and canning, especially dill and bread and butter pickles, and chow-chow.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by: 4 children-Donna MacIntosh of Baraga, Linda (Roger Dukart) Griffin of Gay, Mike (Lori) MacIntosh of Escanaba, and Charley (Laurie) MacIntosh of Nahma, MI; 8 grandchildren-Derek, Aaron, Samantha, Mike, Jr, Alec, Nathan, Natalie, and Danny; 8 great-grandchildren-Madison, Drew, Briella, Blair, Zia, Zoe, Carson, and Aida; and many friends.
Shirley’s family wishes to thank the staff at Our Lady of Mercy Health & Rehab for the care she received.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Rev. Aaron Gehrke to officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the start of the service on Monday. Burial will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
