Bootjack: Senja E. Pietila, 86, longtime resident of Bootjack passed away on October 23, 2014, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility where she had been a patient for the last several years.
Senja was born on March 25, 1928, a daughter of Elsa Manninen-Turovaara. She was a beloved mother and grandmother.
She was married to Edward Pietila on January 14, 1946. Edward passed away on April 6, 2003.
Senja loved to read. She liked to feed the birds, especially humming birds. She enjoyed her time at the lake property in Bootjack.
She was preceded in death by: her parents and husband, a son-Michael Lee Pietila, and a brother-Ralph Manninen.
She is survived by: a son-David (Linda) Pietila of Berkley, MI; 6 grandchildren-Nicholas, Diana, Kristen, Jessica, Michael, Jr., and Anna; and a daughter-in-law-Lynn.
Private burial and graveside services are planned for Lake View Cemetery in Calumet. The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
