Ruth Drake

Lake Linden: Ruth Drake, age 90, of Lake Linden, passed away on September 22, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy in Hubbell after a short illness.

                She was born on September 10, 1925, in Trimountain, a daughter of Wilfred and Agnes Johnson.  She was raised in Laurium and a graduate of Calumet High School.  She worked for Dr. Hosking in Lake Linden and WHDF radio in Calumet where she had her own radio program.  Later, she worked at Fraki’s in Calumet until she retired.

                She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Lake Linden.

                She was married to Joseph “Ben” Drake on September 13, 1952.  He died on May 23, 2011.

                Ruth loved her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.

                She is survived by: a daughter-Joan (Steve) Solmonson of Calumet; a son-Kim D. (Elaine) Robbins, Sr. of Calumet; 4 grandchildren-Robin (Jack) Dueweke, Craig (Mary) Solmonson, Natalie Allen, and Kim D. (Kim) Robbins, Jr; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister-Suzanne Michaud of Sturgeon Bay, WI; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

                Private services will be held at a later date at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Rev Robert White to officiate.  Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery.  Online Condolences may be left at pearcefuneralhome.com
