Bootjack: Ronald Ziemnick, 80, of Bootjack, passed away on December 6, 2015 at U.P. Health System Marquette.
He was born on November 19, 1935 in Hubbell, a son of Joseph and Edna (Messner) Ziemnick. He graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School in 1953. He served as a MP in the US Marines for 3 years, stationed in the Philippines. He started in the Michigan State Police in 1957 and he retired as a Sergeant from the Calumet Post in 1992.
He was married to Alice Moyle on February 23, 1958.
He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hubbell. He enjoyed boating and maintaining his yard. He liked helping at the Bootjack Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-Bruce Ziemnick.
He is survived by: his wife-Alice of Bootjack; 3 children-Doug Ziemnick of Farmington Hills, MI, Karen Ziemnick of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and Linda Ziemnick of Lindenhurst, IL; a brother-Paul Ziemnick; a sister-in-law-Carolyn Ziemnick; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Rev. James Fundum to officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home and for an hour before the service on Thursday morning. Spring Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Lake Linden.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Bootjack Fire and Rescue Foundation.
