Lake Linden: Roderick L. Schick, 88, of Lake Linden, passed away on December 29, 2015 at Garden View Assisted Living in Calumet.
He was born and raised in Lake Linden, a son of Leo and Agnes Schick.
He attended Holy Rosary Grade School in Lake Linden and graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School. Upon graduation from high school, he was drafted into the US Army and served overseas honorably until his discharge from World War II.
After his discharge from the service, he moved to the City of Detroit, and began employment as a police officer. He was employed as a police officer in both Detroit and Lake Linden during his career. When he returned to Lake Linden in 1972, he became active in serving as the Director of the Lake Linden Housing Commission.
Rod was a past scoutmaster of Troop 223, a member of the Hubbell VFW Post, and the Lake Linden American Legion Post.
Rod was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Niemiec) Schick.
He is survived by: a son-Wayne (Marie) of Redford, MI; a granddaughter-Emily; and 2 brothers-Paul and Butchie.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 4, from Noon until 2:00 PM at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with the Funeral Liturgy at 1:30 PM with Fr. Francis Dobrzenski to officiate.
