Obituary

Rachael Ann Lewis is so beloved. She died unexpectedly at 27 years old on January 26, 2023.

She sadly leaves behind a family who loves her, most dearly her beautiful precious three-year-old daughter, Avianna Rose Lapenna. Grieving are her parents Carolyn Lewis and Allen Lewis, and Kristin Lewis, her stepmother. She also leaves behind her brother, Brian Lewis, as well as her siblings by marriage Brandon Miller, Katelynn Miller and Maxwell Moore. Rachael was preceded in death by her Grandparents Barbara and Donald Lewis, Grandfather William Dean Lindsay, and her former partner Frankie L. Filskov who is the father of Avianna. Rachael is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and her grandmother.

Rachael Lewis was born in Sandy, Utah was a long-time resident of Aurora, Illinois. She also spent time living in Salt Lake City, Utah, Billings, Montana and Columbus, Ohio. She earned her high school diploma in Salt Lake City and also earned her certification as a pharmacy technician.

Rachael had a big heart, an upbeat personality, an enthusiasm for life, and was very fun to be around. She was a devoted and attentive mother and loved her daughter. Rachael was very artistic, wrote poetry and lyrics. She has a strong spirit and fought through many difficult challenges and struggles in her life.

Her tender heart was her greatest gift from God and legacy for all of us. Her father will always remember her as an innocent toddler wearing a red velvet dress with a large heart in the center, white tights, long flowing platinum blond hair and soft blue-steel grey eyes, holding a piece of birthday cake in one hand and a toy in the other, taking bites as she walked joyously danced without a care in the world. May we all tap into that joy as we weep for our loss and pray for her eternal rest and for love and flourishing for her dear daughter.

A graveside service will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the following GoFundMe for Rachael's daughter Avianna Rose Lapenna. https://gofundme.com/f/guardianship-fund-for-avianna-rose
