Millicent Kivela

Bootjack: Millicent Kivela, age 78, of Bootjack, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility.

                She was born on November 13, 1936 to Douglas and Helene Mechlin.  She graduated from Calumet High School and Michigan State University.

                On August 24, 1957, she married LeRoy Kivela.  She enjoyed gardening and cooking.  She was a longtime member of the Bootjack Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

                Preceding her in death were: her husband, her parents, and a niece-Margie Salinski.

                Surviving are: sons-Mark (Vicki) of Mud Lake and Karl (Lori) of Chesterfield Twp.; brother-David (Joan) Mechlin of Chassell; grandchildren-Mike (Stacy) of Roscoe, IL and Erik of Laurium; 2 great grandchildren-Max and Morgan; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

                The graveside service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 7, at the Calvary Cemetery near Ahmeek with the Rev. Ken Toth to officiate.  Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday evening at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden.
