Mary Schmitt

Lake Linden: Mary Francine Schmitt, age 72, of Lake Linden, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 2, 2025.

                Mary was born in Syracuse, New York on February 19, 1953, a daughter of James and Frances Craft.  She graduated from Mundelein High School in 1971.  She was married to Daniel Schmitt and they moved to the Copper Country after their first two children were born.  She raised her 3 children in Hubbell, Michigan.

                Mary loved to help others.  She enjoyed knitting, reading, and especially writing.

                She was preceded in death by: her parents, sister-Stephanie, in-laws-Joe and Maebelle Schmitt, and special friend-Carl.

                Mary is survived by: 3 children-D.J. Schmitt of Hubbell, Denise (Tim) Gordon of Bad Axe, MI, and Denny Schmitt (Jen Colbert) of Mt. Pleasant, PA; 4 grandchildren-Kendra, Micah, Tate, and Emma; former spouse-Daniel Schmitt, Sr.; along with nieces and nephews.

                Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Friday evening, November 7, 2025, at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with a Funeral Liturgy planned for 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

                In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Brothers of Hancock in her name.
