Tamarack City:  Lorraine Darcy, 88, of Tamarack City, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2014 at Portage Point where she had been a resident for the past 3 years.

She was born on June 6, 1925, in Calumet, a daughter of the late Jacob and Marie Johnson.  She attended Calumet High School.  She held several jobs: Leo’s Drug Store in Lake Linden, Lewis’s Market in Hubbell, nurse’s aid at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and for 23 years at Vollwerth’s in Hancock.

She was married to Clarence Darcy on July 31, 1948 at Holy Rosary Church in Lake Linden.  He passed away on November 6, 1999.

Lorraine had been a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hubbell where she served on the funeral lunch committee.  She also helped with T.C. Daze.

Lorraine had a very kind and loving heart; she always saw the good in everyone.  In her younger years, she loved camping, boating, riding the motorcycle with “Dar,” and snowshoeing. Lorraine loved her animals; on any given day you would find her walking her dog with a bag full of treats for all the special dogs in town.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Portage Point for making mother’s last years the best that they could be.

Lorraine was preceded in death by: her husband, her parents, brothers-Lawrence and James Johnson, and sisters-Ragna Camula, Gladys Matson, Anna Brown, Carrie Fretter, Marie Johnson, and Millie Guibault.

Surviving are: 2 children-Marie (Michael) Isaacson of Dollar Bay and Donald (Lynn) Darcy of Tamarack, a special sister-in-law-Lorraine (Robert) Weirauch, who Lorraine always thought of as a daughter; a sister-Jeanette (Tom) Corrigan; grandchildren-Dean Isaacson of Dollar Bay, Shannon Isaacson of Florida, Brent (Leah) Isaacson of Houghton; great-grandchildren-Paige Isaacson, Nathan and Rylan Isaacson and Coralee Daugherty; a special nephew and niece (honorary grandchildren)-Sean Weirauch of Madison, WI and Shelise (Kevin) Daugherty of Marquette; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family funeral service will be held at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Father Francis Dobrzenski to officiate.
