Hubbell: Linda Sofia Lohela, 89, resident of Our Lady of Mercy in Hubbell for the past 7 months, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2014.
She was born on April 15, 1925, in Alston, a daughter of Thomas and Selma Juntunen. She graduated from Baraga High School. She worked as a home-maker for many years. Later in life, she held a variety of jobs including: Bechtel Corp. in Ann Arbor, Home Health Care in Naples, FL, Janus Home Health Care, Keweenaw Crayons, and Experience Works at Keweenaw Pines in Mohawk.
She was married to Henry Lohela on March1, 1949. He passed away on March 8, 1975.
She enjoyed attending Bethany Lutheran in Mohawk and the Lake Linden Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She liked gardening and being outdoors.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, 2 sisters-Eleanor and Jenny, and brother-Charles.
She is survived by: 3 daughters-Sandra (Thomas) Collins of Calumet, Roxanne (Hans Roth) Lohela of Germany, and Heidi (Mark Grahek) Lohela of Calumet; 3 grandchildren-Blake (Lauren) VanderLind of Texas, Mia (Jerrod) Moilanen of Chassell, and Liam (Heidi) Collins of Harbor Springs, MI; 6 great-grandchildren-Aaliyah, JayR, Vallon, Bayani, Vitale, and Tuula; 4 sisters-Helmi (Arthur), Shirley, Lorraine, and Elsie; a brother-Henry (Sharon); sister-in-law-Marilyn; brother-in-law-William; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Our Lady of Mercy and Dr. Hafeman for their care and support.
There will be no public visitation. Graveside Services will be held in the Spring at the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range. The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
