Lake Linden: Kenneth A. Treidel, 90, of Lake Linden, passed away on April 28, 2014 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility.
He was born on February 4, 1924 in Detroit, a son of Lawrence and Clara (Racine) Treidel. He was a graduate of MacKenzie High School in Detroit in 1942. He served in the Navy with 3 years of active duty in the Pacific during world War II and then served in the Army for a year. He owned a repair business for a year before taking a job as a truck driver which he did for 11 years. He worked as a GE Appliance parts clerk for 23 years. He later moved to Lake Linden where he had worked for Manderfield Electric and at Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools as a bus driver and custodian until his retirement in 1988.
He was married to Helen Weidman for 11 years. He married Yolande Treidel on November 24, 1971. She passed away in 2010.
Ken liked horseback riding, scuba diving, teaching, and dancing. He enjoyed the outdoors.
He was a past Commander and Adjutant of American Legion Post 90 of Lake Linden.
He was preceded in death by-his wife, parents, and a special aunt-Mildred.
He is survived by: children-Barbara (Rick) Ferrara, Warren (Diana) Treidel, Rich (Becky) Gagnon, Mike Gagnon, and Bonnie Gagnon; grandchildren-Michelle Gagnon, Nicky (Wayne Kokkonen) Outinen, David (Beth Christensen) Gagnon, Jessica (Robert) Poirier, Keith House, Adam (Christina) House, Sarah (Dawayne) Hunt, Lana Treidel, and Miyah Treidel; several great-grandchildren; and special friend-Elaine Gagnon.
The American Legion Funeral Service will be conducted by the members of Post 90 at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 1, at The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday before the service. Spring Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden. The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
