Joseph Robert Provost

Lake Linden: Joseph Robert Provost, age 80, of Lake Linden, passed away at his home on December 27, 2025.

                He was born on December 2, 1945 in Laurium, a son of Russell and Merle (Schmitt) Provost.  He attended Saint Joseph Catholic School.  He served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1970.  He worked at C&H, White Pine Copper Mine, Florida Rock, Houghton County Road Commission, and Torch Lake and Schoolcraft Townships. 

                Joe was a former member of the Hubbell Fire Department and was a member of the American Legion Post 90.

                He had been married to the late Norma Ruonavaara.

                Joe’s hobbies included snowjet/snowmobile racing, deer hunting, and gun collecting.  He was a C.B. radio enthusiast and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

                He was preceded in death by: his parents, daughter-Jodie Provost, and grandsons-Eric Provost and Blair Provost.

                Joe is survived by: children-Dawn (Tom) Jannuzzi, Joe Provost, Jr., Jean Provost, Dennis (Elise) Provost; grandchildren-Knute Linzenmeyer, Joe Provost, III, Steven Provost, Cody Shirley, Heather (Shirley) Meyers, Ryan Provost, Nick Provost, Alex Provost, Emily (Denny) Hill, Travis Denny, Austin Yarbrough, Kurtis Provost, Kyle Provost, Wyatt Provost, Zachary Provost, and Kylie Hansen; Siblings-Karen (late-Gene) Frusti, Merle (Bruce) Dulong, Janice Provost, Sandra (Ron) Hanson, Russell Provost, Bonnie (Raj) Srivastava, Eugene (Gretchen) Provost, and Allen (Paula) Provost; and numerous great-Grandchildren, whom he adored.

                Graveside services are planned for the summer of 2026.  The Pearce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
