John Bruce Learmont

Hubbell - John Bruce Learmont, 85, passed away at the Bluffs in Houghton on November 6, 2020.

He was born on December 12, 1934 in Hubbell to Elmer & Ann (Ednie) Learmont. Bruce attended Kindergarten, First & Second grade at Lincoln Grade School in Hubbell & then to Lake Linden Grade School & High School, graduating in 1952. Bruce went on to attend Michigan Tech & graduated in 1957 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Shortly after graduation Bruce married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Gregoire, on June 22, 1957. They moved to Wichita Kansas where Bruce worked as an engineer at Cessna Aircraft Co. Bruce retired from Cessna in 2000 after which Bruce & Marilyn spent their summers in Lake Linden then in 2012 moved here full time.

Bruce is preceded in death by parents; sister Eleanor Bonifas; & son Jay B. Learmont. 

Bruce is survived by his wife Marilyn (Gregoire) Learmont; sister Bernice (Frances) Griffin of Kettering, Ohio; daughters, Diane (Doug) Sharp of Lake Linden, Sue (Gary) Berger of Clearwater, Kansas; his grandsons, Ian (Meghan) Graham of Wichita, Kansas, Kyle (Rachelle) Berger of Clearwater, Kansas, Bronson Learmont of Phoenix, Arizona; & great-granddaughter Ava Diane Graham.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
