Hubbell: Jerome A. Poisson, 92 of Hubbell, passed away on July 15, 2016.
He was born in Hubbell on January 6, 1924 to Wilfred & Veronica Poisson. He attended Lake Linden-Hubbell High School and graduated in 1941. Upon graduation, Jerome enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was decorated for his courageous service during WWII where he proudly served a tour of duty in the South Pacific.
Following his service, Jerome was a Lake Valley Dairy Milkman, was employed at Calumet & Hecla Mining Company, worked in construction, owned and operated Jerome’s Bar in Hubbell, and later became a highly regarded carpenter for his meticulous craftsmanship. Jerome was active in the Hubbell VFW Post 4624 for 66 years and enjoyed helping his fellow servicemen and building patriotic floats for annual Fourth of July parades. He loved the outdoors, boating, fishing and hunting.
On June 13, 1953, he married Rose Marie Perreault at St. Cecilia Church in Hubbell.
He was preceded in death by his parents Veronica & Wilfred; wife Rose Marie; brothers Herman (Korean War 1952), Joseph, and Robert; and a sister, Marie Stevens.
He is survived by sons David (Edla Poirier) and Ronald (Donna); daughters Debra and Nancy (Richard Grunow); 3 grandsons Brandon Rheault, Joshua & Shane Poisson; granddaughter Lucille Grunow; sisters Bernadette Genovesi, Dolores Bastian, Patsy Arens, Toni Bastian; and brother Francis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Public visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Tuesday July 19 at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with a Funeral Liturgy at 6pm with Father Francis Dobrzenski officiating and a Military Memorial Tribute at 5:30.
Burial will take place at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
