Traprock Valley: Janis Narhi, 68, of Sievi Road, passed away with her family by her side on September 18, 2014, at Portage Hospital after a long illness.
She was born on May 1, 1946 in Pensacola, FL, a daughter of Raymond, Jr and Ruby Shafer. She attended schools in Florida. She worked locally at Lindell’s in Lake Linden, Enrietti’s in Laurium, and the Big Boy in Houghton.
She was married to William Narhi by the Justice of the Peace on November 19, 1977.
She enjoyed time with “The Lunch Bunch” at Rustic Meadows and her bunko group.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-Raymond Shafer, III.
She is survived by: her husband-William Narhi, 2 sons-Jonathan (Melanie) Narhi of Lake Linden and James (Debbie) Narhi of Grand Haven, MI; 6 grandchildren-Dylan, Syvanna, Dallas, Kaylyn, Alysha, and Kelsey; sisters and brother-Irene (Ken) Taylor of Florence, WI, Jerre (Mike) Charles of Jacksonville, FL; and Joe (Phyllis) Peacock of Pensacola, FL; best-friend-Ellie Rautio; and other family members.
The memorial service for family and friends will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, September 26 at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Rev. Robert White to officiate. Visitation will be for one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial is planned for the Waasa Cemetery.
