Lake Linden: James A. Klutts, 64, resident of Lake Linden, passed away at U.P. Health System-Portage on April 3, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on December 9, 1952 in Flint, MI, the son of James L. and Virginia (Bush) Klutts. He graduated from Davison High School in 1971, and he was a graduate of the University of Michigan, double majoring in English and History. He earned his teaching certificate from Northern Michigan University. Locally, he taught at the Keweenaw Academy, he was a substance abuse counselor at the Phoenix House, and was the Houghton and Keweenaw County Veterans Service Officer.
He was united in marriage to Judy Rheault on July 15, 1989 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden.
He loved to build wooden ship models. He enjoyed antiquing and painting. He was an aquarium fish enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by: his wife-Judy of Lake Linden; 2 children-Allen (Hillary) Klutts of Durham, NC and Katie (Tyler) LaTendresse of Ann Arbor; along with numerous cousins.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Fr. Joseph Boakye Yiadom to officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 6, at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden.
Spring Burial will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
