Lake Linden: Gerald Codere, 80, of Lake Linden, passed away on October 1, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital after a long illness.
He was born March 26, 1934 a son of Stanislaus and Elizabeth (Racine) Codere. He attended St. Joseph School in Lake Linden.
He served in the US Army for 2 years. He worked as a logger for numerous local companies. He also worked as a carpenter for a time before taking a job with the Village of Lake Linden until his retirement.
Gerald was married to Carol Haataja in Laurium on December 12, 1959.
Gerald was a member of the Rice Lake Beagle club. He loved hunting, especially deer and rabbits. He enjoyed a lot of good times at the family camp. He liked four-wheelers and was always doing things for others. He loved to joke around and make people laugh. He was well known and loved by many people.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, 2 sisters-Yolande and Shirley, and 3 brothers- Stanley, Jim, and Jack.
He is survived by: his wife-Carol of Lake Linden; a son-Keith of the Houghton County Medical Care Facility; 2 grandsons-Michael Codere of Mohawk and Lucas Codere of Calumet; 2 great-grandchildren-McKenzie and Bryce; brothers- Roy (Barbara) of WA, Andre (Virginia) of Lake Linden, and Brian (Donna) of Bootjack; sisters-in-law- Maureen Codere and Lois Codere of Lake Linden; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives
Family and friends invited to a memorial gathering at the Maple Leaf on the Bootjack Road on Sunday from 2 until 4:00 P.M.
