George Bernard Kallio

George Bernard Kallio died at his home in Richland, Michigan on September 8, 2014.

He was born November 4, 1929 to George and Mildred (Norman) Kallio, and raised in Chatham, Michigan.

Bernie is survived by his wife Irene and their four children: Lauren Vary (John predeceased), Cindy Herakovic (Janko predeceased), William Kallio, and Karen Baril (Mark).  Bernie was proud of his nine grandchildren: Jason (Karen), Neil (Janet) and Beth Vary, Kassandra Kallio, Chloe and Gina Herakovic, and Luke, Tess and Jackson Baril.  He delighted in his great-grandchildren Hayley, Abigail and William Beaudoin, Claire and Owen Vary.  He is also survived by his brother Bill (Molly) and many nieces and nephews.

Bernie was a long time businessman in Lake Linden and a First National Bank director for thirty years. He owned and operated Silver Forest Products since the 1950's. Bernie and Irene were both insurance agents, owning Kallio Insurance. 

Following cremation Bernie will be buried in his beloved Chatham. A private family memorial will be at a later date. Donations can be made to any animal rescue organization, or charity of your choice.
