Tamarack City: Gary W. Frederick, Sr., 78, resident of Tamarack City, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at his home after a long battle with cancer on March 9, 2017.
He was born on August 27, 1938 in Hillsdale, MI, a son of Walter and Fern Frederick.
Gary worked as a journeyman pipeline welder for many years and was respected among the welding community. He was a member of Local 190-Gas Distribution Union.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, being well versed in the outdoors. He was an animal lover. Many kids around his neighborhood looked up to him and he enjoyed time spent with his “Tamarack Boys.”
He was married to JoAnne Frederick in Lower Michigan and she passed away on January 21, 2015. Gary was also preceded in death by 2 brothers-Paul and Jim.
He is survived by: 7 children, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, a sister-Shirley (Paul) Peppiatt, his dog-Ricky, and many good friends that stayed by his side.
The family wishes to thank Aspirus at Home for their care.
