Florence Bashaw

Lake Linden: Florence Bashaw, 96, of Lake Linden, passed away on July 25, 2019, at The Green Tree of Hubbell, where she had been a resident for the past 7 years.

She was born on August 12, 1922, a daughter of Oscar and Mary Jane Paquin.  She was a graduate of Lake Linden-Hubbell High School.

                She worked at the Lakes Pharmacy and was a volunteer at the Houghton County Historical Museum and at the school library.  She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar Society.  She enjoyed crocheting afghans, and loved to bake, especially raspberry pie and saffron bread.

                 Florence was married to George Bashaw in September, 1948.  He passed away in 1989.  Florence was also preceded in death by her parents, a son-Steve, and a sister-Mabel Vollmer.

                She is survived by: two children-John (Mary Ann) Bashaw of Cape Coral, FL and Judy (Mike) Drewyor of Houghton; a daughter-in-law-Laurie (Ed Korpi) Bashaw of Ishpeming;  grandchildren-Adam and Jennifer Drewyor, Eric (Jenni) Bashaw, Stephanie Burgess, and Holly (Tom) Palmer; 4 great-grandchildren-Sebastian and Benjamin Burgess and Sophia and Jacob Palmer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

                Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Father Joseph Boakye-Yiadom to officiate. There will be no public visitation.  The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
