Lake Linden: Esther O. “Gin” Delf, 95, of Lake Linden, passed away on April 30, 2014 at Portage Point in Hancock. She had been a resident there for two years.
She was born January 21, 1919, in Wishek, North Dakota and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from High School in Minneapolis.
She married Robert E. Delf in December of 1938. They moved to the Copper Country in 1946. They built and operated Delf’s Landing Resort at Rice Lake for 31 years.
Gin was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden and a member of the Altar Society for many years. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and American Legion Post 90 Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by: her parents-Adolph and Katherine Koerner, her husband-Robert on July 13, 1977; 7 brothers-Richard, Harold, Albert, Clarence, Charles, Thomas and Vernon Koerner; 2 sister-Aldena Long and Ruby Nelson; and step-children-Don Delf, Howard Delf, and Dorothy Bonini.
She is survived by: step-grandchildren-Brent (Sharon) Bonini of lake Linden, Cheryl (Mike) Mukavetz of Lake Linden, Pamela Delf of Orlando, FL, Roberta Raymond of Detroit, MI, Rebecca (Jim) Berquist of Dallas, TX, Bruce (Tracy) Bonini of Houston, TX; and numerous other step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and a good friend-Marie J. Geshel of Lake Linden.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with a parish prayer service at 7:30. Burial will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Restoration Fund in Lake Linden.
