Edward Richard Fisher passed away Saturday, August 2nd, 2014 at the age of 76 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital.  He was born in Detroit Michigan on March 24th. 1938.  His parents, Edward Charles Fisher and Mary Blaylock Fisher Immigrated to Detroit from Carlisle, England.  Edward attended  University of California Berkeley and graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a PHD in Chemical Engineering.  He was a professor of Chemical Engineering for 50 years, first at Wayne State University in Detroit and for 20 years at Michigan Tech.

 

Since his retirement 10 years ago, he dedicated himself to the Village of Lake Linden while serving on the Village Council.  He wrote grants for historical improvements, established a Farmer’s Market and assisted in building skate board ramps for the Village Park. 

 

Edward and his wife Nancy (Moeller)  Fisher were married for 41 years.  They have five children:  Anna (Steve ) Brown, Erik (Kiera) Fisher. Ted Fisher,  Andrew Fisher and Greg Fisher.   Edward enjoyed his 7 grand children : Taylor, Samantha, Lucinda, Trey, Cole,  Olivea and Daven Fisher.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, children and grand children.

 

Edward was an accomplished carpenter and built furniture, tables and jewelry boxes.  He enjoyed making cheese, fishing, and cooking for his family and friends.

 

We welcome you to join us for a Celebration of Edward’s life at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden, Michigan on Wednesday the 6th of August at 6pm.    In Lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
