Edmund Beauchamp Obituary

Hubbell: Edmund J. Beauchamp, 91, of Hubbell, passed away at The Omega House in Houghton, on April 6, 2019, with family by his side.

                He was born on November 15, 1927, in Ripley, a son of Peter and Theresa (Decker) Beauchamp.  He attended local schools.

                He served in the US Army, active duty during World War II.

                He was a sailor on the Great Lakes for 13 years.  He worked for the State of Michigan, Calumet & Hecla Mining until it closed, and at Michigan Tech until his retirement.  He also worked for the Daily Mining Gazette for 12 years, delivering the bundles of newspapers for distribution.  He served as the Torch Lake Township Constable, and he set-up and repaired voting machines during elections throughout the area.

                Ed was a lifetime and active member of the VFW Post 4624 of Hubbell and the American Legion Post 90 of Lake Linden.  He was a Volunteer Firefighter for over 45 years on the Hubbell Fire Department where he had also served as chief.  He was a member of Saint Cecilia Catholic Church in Hubbell until it closed and he was currently a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

                He was a stamp collector.  He enjoyed painting by numbers and playing cards.  He loved to travel.

                He was married to Beatrice Sager on August 25, 1956 at the Ahmeek Catholic Church.

                He was preceded in death by: his parents and brothers and sisters- Robert, Paul, Mary, Leo, Agnes, Bernard, Raymond, David, and Cecilia.

                He is survived by: his wife-Beatrice Beauchamp, 6 children-Mary Ann (Melvin) Sullivan of Bethlehem, GA, David Beauchamp (mother of his children-Lorna) of Hubbell, Jerry (Mary) Beauchamp of New Baltimore, MI, Donald (Tracey) Beauchamp of Mud Lake, Carol (John) MacDonald of Newport News, VA, Kathie (Bruce) Coppo of Calumet; grandchildren-Valerie, Brooke, Abbie, Brett, Trey, Cole, Tanya, Bailey, Jacob, Zachary, Ashley, Shawn, Brandon, Samantha, Gabe, Seth, and Gracie; great-grandchildren-Dylan, Mathew, Tenley, Dawson, Harper, Jackson, and baby girl on the way; along with numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins.

                The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Father Joseph Boakye Yiadom to officiate.  Visitation will be on Friday, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden, with an American Legion and VFW service at 7:00 PM.  Burial will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton. 

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Omega House in the name of Edmund Beauchamp.
