Calumet: Dorothy Germaine Baillargeon, 93, of Calumet, passed away on April 3, 2015, surrounded by her family and her cat, Shane, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility.
She was born on February 23, 1922, in Lake Linden, a daughter of Placide and Marie (LeFebvre) Beaudoin.
She married Leo Baillargeon on May 24, 1941, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden. They raised six children in Lake Linden and moved up to Calumet on US 41 in 1980.
Dorothy was creative. She enjoyed painting pictures, loved to garden, and liked to crochet and sew. She loved cats and until recently, usually had two or three around the house.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband-Leo; two sons-Leon and James; brothers-Theophile and Reuben; sisters-Eva, Albina, Dora, Leona, Aileen; son-in-law-A. Dennis Ouellette; and daughter-in-law-Geneva Baillargeon.
She is survived by: three sons-Gerald (OkSon) of NJ, Thomas of Greenland and Terry (Susan) of Barryton, MI; daughter-Pauline Ouellette (Richard) Plasencia of Livonia, MI; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother-Clemont (Dorothy) Beaudoin of Lake Linden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy’s family would like to send a special thanks to the doctors and staff at Houghton county Medical Care Facility and Portage Hospital for their kindness to Dorothy over the years. Also, to the Home Healthcare workers who came to her house.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 8, at Saint Joseph Church with Fr. Francis Dobrzenski to officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 7, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM with a parish prayer service at 7:30 PM at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden.
