Lake Linden: Donald J. Racine, of Lake Linden, passed away on April 25, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy in Hubbell after a short illness.  He was just days from his 86th birthday.

                Donald was born in Lake Linden on May 1, 1929, a son of Joseph and Mercedes (Normand) Racine.  He was a graduate of Lake Linden-Hubbell High School, where he enjoyed playing football, basketball, and baseball.  He enlisted into the Army and served in Korea during the Korean Conflict.  He worked for C&H at the Kearsarge Mine before he moved to Lower Michigan.  While in Flint, he worked at various jobs until finding employment with the Postal Service until his retirement.

He was married to Cecilia Ann Rost at St. Mary’s in Mohawk on May 15, 1953. 

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden.   

                He was preceded in death by: his parents, a son-William, and a sister-Mary Luokka.

                He is survived by: his wife-Cecilia Ann of Our Lady of Mercy in Hubbell; a son-Joseph of Grayling; a daughter-in-law-Paula Michalko; 2 grand-daughters-Regina and Sarah; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother-Doug Racine; sisters-Beverly Ceno, Diane (Joe) Perreault, and Pat Faller; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

                The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 28, at Saint Joseph Church in Lake Linden with Fr. Francis Dobrzenski to officiate.  Visitation will be on Monday, April 27, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM with a parish prayer service at 7:30 at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden.  Burial will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left at pearcefuneralhome.com
