Lake Linden: Bernhard Smith, 69, of Lake Linden passed away on September 24, 2014, at Marquette General Hospital after a long illness.

                He was born February 13, 1945, a son of Bernhard and Gertrude (Palmer) Smith.  He attended Houghton Schools. He was known as a “jack-of-all-trades.”  He was a professional driver and he drove semi-trucks.

                He was a huge fan of classic Country Music and he would scour rummage sales in search of old record players.

He was married to Mary Joyce Smith on July 5, 1975 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hubbell.  She passed away on September 27, 2013.

                He was preceded in death by: his wife, parents, a brother-Bruce and a sister-Jaqueline.

                He is survived by: 4 daughters-Lori Mills of Calumet, Lisa (Michael) Dorvinen of Marquette, Kelly Mills of Marquette, and Wendy Smith of Calumet; a son-Ben Smith of Calumet; 12 grandchildren-Jeremy (Jessica), Jody, Kristopher, Lacey, Lilli, Amanda, Jacob, Kyle, Megan, Mason, Maddie, and Steven; 3 great-grandchildren-Kyara, Cooper, Jaxson; sister-Trudi Newhouse of Livonia; brother-Robert (Barbara) Smith of Virginia; sister-in-law-Neldine of Wisconsin; and many other relatives.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 29, at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Rev. Robert White to officiate. Friends may call for an hour before the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Lake Linden.
